French Country Dance
This category differs from
the Continental in that it consists of French Country Dance music. This
is a rather rough and ready style involving accordions, hurdy-gurdys,
fiddles and bagpipes, and must be heard to be believed. It always makes
people smile and sometimes dance. Jena and I teach French country dancing,
which is, of course, the perfect compliment to this music. We call the
group Les Campagnards, a loose configuration of 2 to 5 individuals including
Alan Keith, Bruce Culbertson, Jena Rauti and myself (and sometimes Barbara
Slone) who are prepared to make you happy. We recently played at the
Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco for the members only
opening of the Toulouse Lautrec show.
